The Silk Way Weekly: Narges Sadat, one of the protesting women’s rights activists who spent more than two months in Taliban’s horrific prison, sending a video tape to the SWW says: “I remember very well what happened to me in that day. It is one year, but, yet, that nightmare does not leave me. A nightmare of staying for 66 days in the Taliban’s fearful prison! I was imprisoned and tortured for my gender, beliefs and struggles.” She speaks.
Sadat, “Member of the Strong Women of Afghanistan Movement”, was arrested by the Taliban on February 10 from Pul e Surkh area of Kabul and spent two months in the prison.
In a video tape she chants: “Last year in prison! This year stronger than before.” She leaves abroad now, and organizing a two people protest, tells the Taiban, “the more you imprison and torture us, the more we will blossom.” She states. Narges Sadat has written on her Facebook account; Though one year has passed since was imprisoned with the Taliban, “I still hear the screams and sobs of the innocent people who were imprisoned and severely tortured for the crime of demanding their rights.” She asserts.
Sadat added that “I was imprisoned for those whose gender, language, religion and ethnicity was a crime. We shouted in Kabul streets that we all were equal. “No one is superior than others.” She emphasizes. She adds that achieving freedom is impossible without sacrifices. “I still believe no one donates freedom and one should stay for 66 days in a hell called prison and stay behind the iron gates and prison bars of tyranny for the sake of freedom.” She declares.
Sadat is one of the tens of protectors detained, imprisoned and tortured by the Taliban over the last two years.
