Silk Way Weekly(Jade-Abresham): Arezoo Ahmadi’s relatives say that today (Tuesday, June, 6), the Pakistani police arrested her along with her teacher and several others from the Karachi-Islamabad route.
Sources say that the reason for the arrest of Arzoo and her companions is not known and they are still in the custody of the Pakistani police.
The source adds that Arzoo Ahmadi and her companions may have been detained because they did not have legal residence documents in Pakistan.
However, Arzoo Ahmadi is said to have had a refugee card from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Fatima Atif, a human rights activist in Islamabad, confirmed this news and wrote on her Facebook page: “Arzoo Ahmadi and his teacher, Afhgnan Hazara, who went to Karachi yesterday to participate in a sports competition and won a gold medal, today they were coming from Karachi to Islamabad and was stopped by the police and she is still there.” Atif said.
