Jade-Abresham(Silk Way): Close sources to Mawlawi reported to Jade Abresham Mawlawi Mahdi is Alive and is imprisoned in Taliban intelligence in Herat.
According to the local sources, Malawi Mahdi was detained in Islam Qala border at 1:00AM on Tuesday 16 August 2022, by Mawlawi Obaida forces and was taken to Herat Intelligence Directorate and he is alive yet.
The family of Mawlawi Mahdi asks Taliban to treat him as a war prisoner according to the Islamic teachings and human rights principles.
Also Mawlawi Mahdi’s family asks the international community and the UN to observe this issue closely to be treated as a war prisoner.
Taliban Ministry of Defense in a newsletter issued today claimed Mawlawi was identified in Iran border and was killed in Herat.
“Mawlawi Mahdi wanted to flee to Iran during the last days but our border intelligence forces identified him in the border area of Herat with Iran and killed him.” The newsletter added.
