Jade-Abresham(Silk Way): Hoda Khamosh, the human rights activist and member of the Afghan Women Movement for Justice and Freedom, have been named among the 100 most influential people of 2022 by Time magazine on Monday.
After the Kabul fell and on the first days of the Taliban government, a number of Afghan brave women risked arrest and raised their voices for the citizens’ rights against the Taliban group Hoda Khamosh was one of the pioneers of the movement. However, the Taliban arrested and imprisoned some of the protesting women.
When the delegation of the Taliban was invited to Oslo the capital of Norway, Khamosh was invited to the meeting as one of the representatives of the Afghan women, to give a speech in the meeting and discuss the humanitarian and economic situation in Afghanistan. During her speech, she urged Amir Khan Muttaqi to call the Taliban in Kabul and release the arrested women. “The main achievement of Afghan women’s rights has been preventing the Taliban to be recognized by the international community.” She said. “Taliban think they can get their share from the international community by restricting women; but we see they except marginalizing women, depriving them of their rights, increasing target killing and suppressing the voices of freedom, they have achieved nothing.” She said.
Hoda Khamsoh participated in all women’s rights protests advocating for the right to education, work, and freedom for women.
She is currently out of Afghanistan but is an active member of the Afghan Women Movement for Justice and Freedom. “These struggles go on”, She said.

Before Khamosh, Zahra Joya the founder of Rukhshana Media agency an Afghan female journalist was listed among 12 women recognized by Time Magazine for change-making leadership.
