Silk Way Weekly: A number of female hairdressers protested in Kabul city today (Wednesday, 19, July) in response to the Taliban order to close women’s hair salons.
These women chanted the slogans of “justice”, “bread”, “work”, “freedom” and demanded their civil rights.
The Taliban dispersed the protesters with aerial shots and have transferred some of them to an unknown place.
Three weeks ago, the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice issued a written order to close all women’s hair salons across the country until July 23.
In an audio tape of the female protestors, which has been sent to the Silk Way Weekly, a young girl says that the Taliban have taken most of the female hairdressers with them and are looking for those who have been scattered.
This girl says that the Taliban gave electric shocks to the protestors and used tear gas to suppress them.
Protesters in today’s march have demanded the cancellation of the order to close women’s hair salons.
