RSF; Taliban detained 12 journalists in May

Jade-Abresham(Silk Way)Weekly: Reporters Without Border in a report said Taliban had arrested 12 journalists in May.
On 11 June, RSF in a report condemned the suppressing behavior of Taliban against Journalists and urged Taliban take care government to deliver their promise of protecting journalists.
RSF has added Taliban shall stop restriction violence on journalists.

Commission on Media Violation Not Resumed
Ministry of Information and Culture of the former government had formed the Commission on Media Violation. The commission worked according to the Mass Media Law.
When the Republic fell, and Taliban seized power, on 3 April, Mujahid in a meeting held by Committee for Journalists Protection, said he has read the Law on Mass Media enacted by the former government, and it had no drawbacks. It means it is enacting.
Balal Karimi, the Deputy Spokesperson to Taliban in a twit said’ “We have read the former Media law and it has no shortcomings.”
On media violations, Mujahid had said Taliban would revive the Commission on Media Violations in order to prevent misunderstandings and if there was any problem the commission should address it. He had said Taliban welcome any constructive criticism but media shall avoid rumors.
RSF criticizing Taliban, has said it more than one month that the Meeting of Commission on Media Violation has not been held.
In terms of detaining the journalists RSF said from March 28 to May 29, 12 reporters have been detained in different provinces of Afghanistan.
Out of 12 reporters, four of them are in the prisons yet. the Military court of Taliban in Herat has sentenced “Khalid Qaderi the poet and reporter of Radio Nawroz” for one year. Mirza Hassanit the editior in chief of Radio Aftab has been detained on 22 may and has on charges of cooperating with the NRF.
Jamaluddin Deldar the Gariz Radio report was detained on 24 May on charges of political beliefs of his father. Khan Mohammad Sial the reporter of Paiwastoon TV was detained on 10 May in Urozgan on charges of “a personal case” and no further clarifications provided.
Taliban have not assessed the cases of these four reporters in the Commission on Medai Violation and have decided on these cases in an independent and in an extra legal manner.

RSF has criticized such illegal detentions and said such behaviors show They purse further restrictions om media and reporters.
It is a bitter reality Taliban have no clear police on media. Committee on Protecting Journalists on 5 April said, “Taliban have issued ambiguous orders” on media activities and the saying and doing of Taliban were not the same.
