Jade-Abresham(Silk Way):Taliban intelligence detained Bamyan passport manager.
Local sources say that Mawlawi Atiqullah was detained on June 8, 2022, with charges of corruption and misusing his authority. Taliban have not officially commented on the issue yet.
Mawlawi Atiqullah is close to the Taliban Bamyan provincial governor. There was reports about widespread corruption in Bamyan passport in the past. It is said a passport cost 300 $ in Bamyan. Such corruption was facilitated in the black market in coordination with the passport authorities while more than 80 percent of Bamyan residents live under poverty line.
