Weekly Jade-Abresham: Yesterday (March 8), During an event on the occasion of International Women’s Day, a group of women called on the women of Afghanistan to remain united and continue their struggle to achieve their rights. In a message, they asked women to continue their struggle for justice, gender equality, and women’s rights. They also called on women around the world and human rights activists to support the women of Afghanistan and not to leave them alone in the current difficult time. Shamsia AFZALI, one of the participants, said they were forced to hold the event in a private and limited place due to security threats.
According to members of the Afghan Women’s Movement, they intended to launch a blood donation campaign on that day, but Taliban leaders at Jumhoriyat Hospital strongly opposed the campaign, saying women were not allowed to donate blood. “Today, women not only have no role in the development of the country, but also they are not even allowed to donate blood to their fellow countrymen,” said one of the participants in the campaign.
