Taliban governor of Balkh province killed in blast in PG office

Silk Way Weekly: Mohammad Dawood Muzammil, the Taliban governor of Balkh province, was killed in a blast at PG office today, March 9, 2023.

The spokesperson of Taliban, Mohammad Asif Waziri, told local media that the incident happened today at 9 am on the second floor of Balkh PGO. “Two people, including the governor of Balkh, have been killed in an explosion this morning,” Waziri said.

He said police were investigating and would provide more details once they became clear.

According to the local sources more than 30 people have been injured in the blast and have been moved to the hospitals.

Muzammil is the first Taliban governor who is killed in a blast after the Taliban group seized Kabul in August 2021.

The ISKP has claimed a series of deadly attacks in Afghanistan in recent months, some on civilian targets, especially the Hazara ethnic group and Shiites, and others on Taliban security forces.
